Resolutions and regrets
We are almost three weeks into 2023 already. The unseasonably warm days seem a thing of the past now that we have oodles of snow, bluebird days and temperatures are dropping into minus double figures. We have survived ‘Blue Monday’ earlier this week, purportedly the saddest day of the year. Resolutions may be on the brink of collapse or already have been forgotten. Even if the burpees and beetroot shakes goals have fallen by the wayside, we can still look towards a positive year ahead.
The ideal location for self-care
Being in the mountains makes living a healthy lifestyle easier than in some places. Obesity here is low, people live here for a love of nature and the great outdoors, and visitors come here for similar reasons.
There is much talk these days about self-care and self-love. Despite the cliché hashtags, they remain very important. Here at Hotel du Lac we have plenty of opportunities for you to expand on your well-being.
Pamper
Taking care of yourself does not just mean eating healthily and exercising, taking time just for you is also important. Our massage partners at Mobile Mountain Massage have a dedicated treatment room right here at Hotel du Lac. Sink onto the heated couch, breathe in the essential oils burning gently in the background, relax to the sound vibrations of the Tibetan bowl and leave feeling rejuvenated and refreshed… Or indulge in a coffee or cocktail upstairs in our lounge area afterwards.
Get the wind in your cheeks
Walking is good for mind, body and soul. A gentle stroll around lake Montriond is flat and takes under an hour, perfect for all ability levels and a great way to clear your head and get some rosiness in your cheeks. It is one of the most stunning backdrops in the area. If you’re looking to increase your heart rate then extend the walk and trying snow shoeing up to the Ardent waterfall is a great option.
Dose up on the happy hormone
Adrenaline rushes and releasing of the happy hormone dopamine are why so many love skiing and snowboarding. With access to over 650km of pistes just a five minute bus or car journey away at the Ardent bubble, you can take as many doses as you like.
Ice dipping
The benefits of cold water have been discussed at length. Lake Montriond, just steps from our front door, offers the perfect option for a quick dip, and you can be back inside taking a hot shower afterwards within minutes if you are a guest of the hotel. It’s a thoroughly invigorating way to reset after a little setback due to overindulgence.
Veggie Delights
The benefits of eating less meat, for both the body and the planet, are becoming more and more apparent. Join us on 1 February for our Vegetarian Tasting Menu and discover how diverse and delectable a meat-free feast can be.
Well hello there whisky
