The Ardent Télècabine in Summer 23

Ardent is a little hamlet, just four minutes along the road from Hotel du Lac, and it’s easily accessed using the free local bus service which stops directly outside our hotel. Ardent is also significant because it’s home to the Ardent Télècabine, giving us all fast, efficient access to the Portes du Soleil.

Now in winter, this lift station gives skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to join the slopes of Avoriaz 1800 and the 650km Portes du Soleil ski area in mere minutes. After a number of trials and false starts, the Ardent Télècabine opened for the first time during the summer months last year, much to the delight of many!

What’s the point?

The objective here is to reduce the number of vehicles – and especially coaches – making the journey up the Joux Verte road. This road is popular with road cyclists, it passes through the Goat Village and les Lindarets. These are areas of outstanding natural beauty and the thinking was that noisy cars spoil the tranquil mountain environment. Allowing people to access the mountains using the Ardent Télècabine would reduce the number of vehicles it was hoped, and parking is free of charge in the large car park at the base of the lift.

What’s at the top?

During Summer 23 the Ardent Télècabine will be open between 23rd June and 3rd September. It will open each day between 9.30am and 6pm and is available to both foot passengers and mountain bikers who can head in both an upwards and downwards direction. From the lift station, why not hike up to the Cascade Brochaux, past the alpine cows, flora and fauna then enjoy a picnic at the foot of this stunning waterfall? Or hop straight on the Chaux Fleurie chairlift with your bike, direction Switzerland? The goats of the Goat Village are also unmissable.

The Details

It’s free to use the Ardent Télècabine during the summer months if you have a Portes du Soleil MultiPass.

A one-way trip per person is just €3, or €6 for a round trip, children under five years old travel free of charge. You can buy your lift passes at the office at the bottom of the lift station.

Here at Hotel du Lac we applaud this new addition to the Portes du Soleil’s summer lift network! Don’t forget to join us on our sunny terrace for apres-bike beverages on the shores of Lac de Montriond on your way back down the mountain.
