Valentine’s Day can be a minefield. Here’s a handy guide with ideas aplenty and links so you can book everything in advance to help make your day play out like a faitytale. You’re welcome.

Every day is better with flowers, and Valentine’s is the perfect excuse to go all out.   Shower your loved one with a bouquet, fresh rose petals, a plant that will last, a succulent you dare your partner to try and kill, whatever takes your fancy!  Book yours to be delivered ahead of time from the wonderful Violaine at La Cage Fleurie on Route de la Plagne in Morzine.  They’re partners with Interflora so deliver across the valley.

If you’re heading up to the slopes, and what better place to spend a romantic day than surrounded by awe-inspiring nature, they why not first pop into Morzine to get a few treats.  Head to one of the souvenir shops such as Nature et Compagnie, where Delphine and Franck have been welcoming tourists for over fifteen years, and get your loved one a gift of a flask and mugs.  Just down the road go to the infamous Bonbonnière artisan bakery and get some treats for elevenses or a lunchtime picnic.

Once you head up onto the slopes, find the perfect peak and sit and enjoy the sunshine for elevenses.  Some great lookout spots are listed below. Check the piste map here.

The cross just to the right of the Grains d’Or chairlift in Les Gets looking down the valley

The bench just to the left of the top of the Ranfoilly chair, overlooking Mont Blanc

The area to the right of the top of Lac Intrets chair in Avoriaz, often offering a great view of the cloud inversion over Morzine

Just down the blue run to the left from the top of the Mossettes chairlift, right on the French-Swiss border

The top of the Marcheuson drag lift, for views of the epic Dents du Midi mountain range

If a picnic is not your thing, and seeing as this is one of the cheesiest holidays there is, why not go for a cheesy overload and share a traditional Savoyard fondue at the goat village of Lindarets, just five minutes from Hotel du Lac.  Laugh until the cows come home as you feed each other and lose your bread in a sea of cheesy goodness.  Restaurant La Ferme comes highly recommended.

If you’re looking for a truly memorable moment with adrenaline thrown in for good measure, why not book an unforgettable afternoon of paragliding or husky sledding.  You’ll be sure to get the wind in your cheeks, create memories to last a lifetime and have the Instaworthy photos to prove you’re the happiest couple on Earth.

If you’re looking for a spot of bling and boogie, head to the renowned Folie Douce in Avoriaz.  Either dine at the Fruitière restaurant or just join in the après and order a magnum of champagne to be delivered via mini gondola, complete with mini fireworks to boot!

If you’re looking for family fun, you could try night sledging before dinner.  You’ll be provided with a head torch and make your way down over 3 kilometres of mountain for a thrilling 45 minutes of glee.

Adrenaline not the look you’re after on Valentine’s Day?  Book a relaxing massage instead.  Hotel du Lac has its very own massage room, and our partners at Mobile Mountain Massage are here to help you fully unwind.

To end the day, enjoy our sumptuous Valentine’s sharing dinner at Hotel du Lac.  Think bubbles, oysters, crispy Wellingtons, passionfruit delights, petit fours and more… Book your table now to avoid disappointment.

Forget ye not that love is not just for Valentine’s Day, it’s for good.  So if you’re not in the Morzine area for Valentine’s Day, fear not, romantic gestures are well received any time of the year, even more so when it comes as a surprise perhaps.  So book your stay at Hotel du Lac and get planning your sweep them off their feet moments today!
